Our Heritage

Clarence Dotson & his wife, Jeweldene Williamson, opened Dotson Funeral Home in August, 1979 in the Wildwood Community of Blount County (almost midway between Maryville & Seymour, TN). They chose this picturesque, natural setting so that families could honor the life of their loved ones in a peaceful place.

The Dotson's oldest son, Barry, also earned his Funeral Director & Embalmer's license. He joined the firm full time in 1982.

In 1992, the Dotson Family welcomed Mr. Walter Harrill as a lead director and was honored to merge with his legacy at Harrill Funeral Home.

Brent Dotson, Clarence & Jeweldene's youngest son, joined the firm in 1997 as managing partner after earning his Funeral Director's License and graduating Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Business Administration. In 2013, Brent earned his Certified Cremation Specialist from the ICCFA University, an industry specific training academy.

Beginning in 2005, Barry Dotson began a leave of absence to attend to some personal matters.

Over the years, Dotson Funeral Home has undergone expansions & renovations in 1996, 2004, and the most recent in fall 2013- continuing the Dotson commitment to serving families in the very best ways possible.
