Wayne Frederick Hughes, age 80, of Maryville, died Thursday, May 14, 2026, at The Waters of Clinton.

He was born and raised in Howard, New York, on a dairy farm. Wayne was a graduate of The Ohio State University and went on to serve as a pilot in the United States Air Force while raising three wonderful children. Wayne enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, traveling, and bird watching. He was meticulous by nature, faithfully keeping journals and detailed records throughout his life. Wayne was also very handy and could fix nearly anything.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sandra Hughes; son, Jeffrey Hughes (Veronica); daughters, Jennifer Hickey (John) and Andrea Barry (JJ); grandchildren, Hayden, Julian, and Mia; and brother, John Hughes.
