Rita Gail Vasseur Thompson, age 66, of Knoxville, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the University of TN Medical Center.
Rita was a woman of many talents, she enjoyed baking and cake decorating, playing piano and sewing. She loved being on her iPad and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Rita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Vasseur and Lurline Pitre Vasseur; brothers, Lucius Vasseur and Curtis Gene Vasseur, Sr.; brother-in-law, Allen Dougherty; and niece, Vashonda Hebert.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, James M. Thompson; son, Jeremy Sylvester and his wife, Amy; daughters, Sheila Deville, Kacey Moody and Mary Soileau and her husband, Chance; step-sons, Jamie L. Thompson and Jason L. Thompson and his wife, Tracy; brothers, Robert Vasseur and his wife, Shirly and Ronald "Butch" Vasseur and his wife, Gerrie; sister, Norma Ann Dougherty; grandchildren, Wesley Zerangue, Lathen Sylvester, Jeremiah Sylvester, Londyn Paisley, Jordan Moody, Nathan Moody, Madison-Kate Barchus, Evan Brown, Peyton Soileau and Jadin Deville; and step-grandchildren, Madison Leann Thompson, Cade Ryan Thompson, Christian Thompson, Tanner Thompson, Kade Hesler, Kenneth Hesler, III, Kaleb Hesler and Klyne Hesler.
