Richard 'Rick' Mack, Jr. Obituary

Richard N. Mack, Jr. (Rick) passed away the morning of April 26, 2023.  He was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, to Dick and Joan Mack. His early years were spent in Claremont, until his father’s job brought them to Knoxville. He attended Bearden High School, where he excelled playing football. His mother kept every newspaper clipping on his achievements, and there is a box full of them!

Rick’s curiosity of how things were made and worked, started at an early age. His strong determination to be able to repair, create and make things even better than they were, served him well throughout his entire life.  His desire for perfection and neatness came naturally; a gift from his mother. He readily helped anyone, friends and family, without hesitation, regardless of all his own projects. He loved the challenge to be able to solve whatever the need was, almost as much as the good he did for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as both grandparents, Nana and Grampie Mack and Nana and Grampie L’Heureux. All of his grandparents he loved so much, played a huge role and were such an important part of his life.

Loved ones that will miss him dearly are his wife, Cindy March Mack, who loved him as much as he loved her, and his much adored, loved and best sister ever who was always there for him, Debbie Gore.  Rick cherished and loved ALL of his family.  Aunts, Uncle, cousins, brother in-law, nieces and nephews, along with his lifelong and new friends, will miss him greatly.

His kindness, selflessness and thoughtfulness are his legacy. His love of family and friends will leave us rich in memories.

The family would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to Rick’s doctor and friend, Dr. Mark Green, for his kindness and compassion shown to Rick from when he first became his doctor through the last days of his life.

As Rick wanted, there will be no service.  If you wish to make a donation in memory of Rick, the charities close to his heart are American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s of Tennessee and St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood. (865-984-5959)   Online Book of Memories – www.dotsonfuneralhome.com.
