Nellie McGory Beames

Nellie McGory Beames, age 99, of Sevierville, formerly of Cortland, NY, died Monday, January 30, 2017 at the family home. Nellie Beames was born Nellie McGory on October 4, 1917, in Dryden, NY. She graduated from Dryden High School and worked at Smith Corona, in the type room, until she retired. Following retirement, she spent 25 years volunteering, in the Café, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center and also with the Red Cross. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Beames and brothers, Robert, Henry, Thomas, Charles, John and Donald McGory. Nellie is survived by her son, Thomas, his wife Wendy; grandson, Thomas, his wife, Heather and their child, Cassidy; granddaughter, Jennifer, her husband, Josh Ort and their children, Madison and Kennedy; sisters in law, Bert McGory, Carolyn McGory and Margaret McGory; and many nieces and nephews. No local ceremonies are scheduled at this time. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland, NY. Arrangements by Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood.
