Michael Low Obituary

Michael Warren Low, of Maryville, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Blount Memorial, surrounded by his family. Mike was born November 29, 1967 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Warren “W.E” Low and Janet Lashuay Fletcher.

He lived in Bowling Green until 1985 when he moved to Marietta, Georgia, to be with his brother Timmy. The summer of 88, he met the love of his life and had proposed to her by Christmas. They moved to Maryville shortly after to get married and raise a family together. Mike loved babies and was over the moon about having two of his own. Throughout his time in Maryville, he picked up more and more friends he always called family.

Mike loved pretty much all sports except soccer. He was a lifelong Steelers fan and a converted Tennessee fan. He played hockey as a kid and was an Islanders fan, and he later came to like the Predators. He loved Dale Earnhardt. On Sundays, you could always find him watching a Steelers game and then napping through the race. He coached baseball and played rec league softball, always the fastest on the field.

He worked with Heaton’s Garbage Service and eventually returned to the construction field, having learned all about concrete from his dad. He excelled in creating outdoor living spaces with brick pavers. This was trade but he was not limited to one area of expertise by any means. He left his legacy all across the country in sidewalks, driveways, retaining walls, swimming pools, and also at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. He found so much pride in his work that he never stopped. Not one day went by where Mike wasn’t picking up odd jobs, tinkering around the house, starting projects, grilling something delicious.

His family mourns his death in the wake of the loss of his mom only one day before. They know he was met at the Gates by Janet, taken into heaven to be with his family. He was also preceded in death by his dad Warren Low, brother Timothy Low, his step father-in-law William Luckey, his stepdad Ted Fletcher, and his nephew Zain Blaney.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carol Low; his children, Mikey and wife Jasmine Low of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Shelby Low and partner Kevin Cashion of Louisville, Tennessee. His siblings Scott (Darline) Low of Woodstock, Georgia; Joe (Julie) Low of Greenback, Tennessee; Rennie “RJ” (Shannon) Low of Fayette, Ohio; Laura Low of Bowling Green, Ohio; Phil Low of Altoona, Wisconsin; Lisa Low of Haskins Ohio. His mother-in-law Patricia Luckey of Maryville, Tennessee; father-in-law Phil “Pete” Shipley of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; sister-in-law Shelly Low of Bluffton, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law Phillip and Candy Shipley of Rutledge, Georgia; Nick and Christy Shipley of Greenback, Tennessee. His step-mom Nancy Decker of Weston, Ohio; step-mom Rosemary Henderson of Bowling Green, Ohio; his 24 nieces and nephews, so many other people that he impacted on the way. His love for other people came naturally to him, through his love of Christ.

In lieu of a funeral service, the family will be hosting a celebration of life at the Sandy Springs Park in Maryville on his birthday, November 29, from 12pm to 6pm.
