Matthew "Matt" Henry, age 43, of South Knoxville, died on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Matt faced many hardships and challenges throughout his life, but he met each one with grit, determination, and a tireless work ethic. He was known for being quick-witted and full of comic relief, bringing laughter and lightness to those around him even in difficult times. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar—it was one of the many ways he found joy in life. Matt took great pride in his work installing hardwood flooring—earning a reputation for excellence in his trade and leaving behind floors as solid as he was.
To his family, Matt was more than just funny and hard-working—he was deeply loved. Though his absence leaves a great void, the family finds peace in God’s presence and comfort in knowing how much he was loved.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl Lee Gibson, Sr.; grandparents, Charles and Clara Henry; cousin, Kristen Gibson and her daughter Kaylee.
He is survived by his beloved son, Tyler Henry; mother, Sandy Finchum (Donnie); his brother, Michael Finchum (Brittney); and his nieces, Katelyn and Kenzie Finchum.
Cremation Done Properly under the care of Dotson Funeral Home & Cremation, Wildwood (865-984-5959).
