Laverne Bolmon (Bruce) Burger

Laverne Bruce Bolmon Burger, "Granny" departed this life on Good Friday, March 30th for a home in heaven. She was born in Toccoa, GA in 1935 and moved to Maryville in 1961 when her husband, Garland, was transferred with Delta Airlines. She was a private but giving person, and raised 3 difficult children (sorry mom) who were taught to have high standards and values and instilled in them personal responsibility. She enjoyed cooking, beach and cruise trips and was active politically. She loved hummingbirds and her canine companion, Nay Nay. Preceded in death by first husband, Charles Bolmon of Toccoa, GA, husband of 50 yr Garland Burger, parents Ben Franklin and Annie Mae Bruce of Toccoa, GA; siblings: Ben, Tallulah and Mazelle. Survivors include her children: Vicki Burger, Bruce Burger (Gerri), Randy Burger (Lisa), grandchildren: Luke Hamilton, Warren Burger, Audrey Faso (Dwight), April Burger-Worley (Justin), Brett Burger. great-grandkids: Airk (Connor), Asabel and Alexandria Hamilton, Nora Worley and Dane and Demi Faso; brothers, George Bruce of SC and Melvin Bruce of FL., many cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside Ceremony will be at 2:00 PM on Easter Sunday April 1, 2018 at Logan's Chapel UMC Cemetery, 4626 Logan's Chapel Loop, Maryville, with Pastor Charles Ledger, officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.org, in Laverne's name. Arrangements entrusted to Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood.
