Kenneth 'Ken' James Silver, age 76, of Maryville, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the family home.
Ken was a hard worker who took pride in whatever he put his hands to. He was a talented hardwood flooring installer and, more recently, worked as a custodian at Heritage Middle School. He was also a veteran, having served honorably in the United States Navy.
His true calling, however, was his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and serving others. Throughout his life, Ken shared his love of the Bible as a teacher at Broadway Baptist Church and as a Sunday School teacher at Sevier Heights Baptist Church where he also took part in prison trips and enjoyed sharing his faith with others.
Ken also loved being in the kitchen, especially when barbecue was on the menu. He was well known for his world-class salsa, which was surely enjoyed by many who were fortunate enough to taste it. Above all, Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who treasured his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Silver; and brother, Milton Silver.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Punky Silver; sons, Ron O'Dell (Rachel), Jose Silver; daughter, Amber Fawn Silver; grandchildren, Amethyst Hamilton (Seth), Brittany Hanson (Justin), Madelyn Flores (Matthew), Ronnie O'Dell (Madelyn), Chevelle Silver; great-grandchildren, Finley and Emma; sisters, Charlene Silver Iverson, Diana Silver; nephew, Sean Iverson (Carrie).
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Grace Community Church, 1821 Morganton Road, Maryville. The Funeral Ceremony will follow at 6:30 PM with the Rev. Tony Collins officiating. Interment will take place at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Grace Gardens Graveyard with military honors.
