Joyce Compton Peters, age 77, of Rutherford County, formerly of Sevierville, died October 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Kathryn Wilburn Compton; and brothers, Charles "Bud" Wilburn Compton and James Houston Compton. She is survived by her son, Rickey Lafeyette Smith; daughters, Sheila (Steve) D. Elliott, Deborah A. Kapfhammer; grandchildren, Jessica Harrell, Tabitha Swezea, Heather Manning, Matthew Smith and Anthony Kapfhammer; and great-grandchildren, Alexa Harrell, Peyton Elliott, Anniston Swezea and Brody Manning. Graveside service will be 1:00 PM (Eastern Time), Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 503 Pleasant Hill Road, Maryville.
