John George Bobbitt Jr died peacefully on April 28, 2022 at the age of 82.

He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Michael Wolney of Maryville, TN and Tammy Bobbitt of Maryville,TN; grandchildren Lindsey (Jeremy) Mueller of Trenton, IL; Erin Wolney of Maryville,TN; Corey Bobbitt of Keysville, VA; Sinjin Wolney, Holiday, FL; Nathan Bobbitt of Eagle Rock, VA; Emma Bobbitt of Eagle Rock, VA; great-grandson, Jackson Mueller of Trenton, IL; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Marlene Bobbitt of Maryville, TN; parents, John and Sallie Bobbitt of Lewisburg, WV; parents-in-law, Colon and Elma Daggett; son CJ Bobbitt of Maryville, TN; son Jeffrey Bobbitt of Eagle Rock, VA; grandson, William Bobbitt of Maryville, TN; and granddaughter, Sydney Bobbitt of Maryville, TN.

John was born Mar 30, 1940 in Lewisburg, WV to John and Sallie Bobbitt. He served in the US Coast Guard where he met Marlene and married her in 1960. He worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company in Massena, NY before transferring to the Alcoa plant in Alcoa, TN. The couple raised 4 children.

John was a hard-working father and an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time on his property in the mountains of Virginia where he could plant and tend to his garden along with tinkering around the place. He was known as a problem-solver and would take on difficult projects at work and at home.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

No funeral ceremony will be held. Family will be receiving friends at his residence on May 12, 2022 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
