Janet Kay Simpson, age 84, of Louisville, died Monday, June 22, 2026, at the family home.
Janet spent her life devoted to her family and to caring for others. She raised two sons on her own and worked hard to provide for them, doing whatever was necessary to support her family. Throughout the years, she worked in the textile industry, drove a truck, and even worked as a school bus driver. Her determination, strength, and work ethic were evident in everything she did.
She was known for always putting others first. Janet never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion and often sent cards to let family and friends know they were remembered and loved. She was feisty, dependable, loyal, and honest, and believed in doing things the right way. She also enjoyed baking and took great pride in her flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Adams; father, Thane Tanner; and brothers, Jim Tanner and Rick Adams.
Survivors include her sons, Barry Petrowski (Sherry) and Mark Petrowski; brother, Ron Adams (Toni); sisters, Norane Forbes (Andy) and Linda Sturtz (Tony); along with other extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
No ceremonies are planned at this time.
