James Edward Walker Jr., 69, of Maryville, died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
James was a dedicated landscaper who worked at a local nursery, where his deep knowledge of trees, plants, and flowers touched many lives. He had a gentle way with nature and an even gentler way with people. He lived simply and peacefully, devoting himself to a life of care, humility, and kindness.
James loved quiet mornings with the newspaper, tending to his yard with pride and joy. He had a lifelong love for Godzilla and King Kong, and he delighted in collecting model cars—especially Hot Wheels, which brought him childlike joy throughout his life.
Those who knew James will remember his selflessness, his calm demeanor, and his unwavering dedication to the people he loved. He was a caretaker in every sense of the word, especially in his devotion to his wife. He put others before himself, always with quiet strength and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patti Walker; his father, James Walker; his mother, Wilma Fuller Jenkins; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Hord.
Survivors include his daughters, Kasey Adkins and Tracey Golden (David); son, Ronald Adkins; grandchildren, Dylan Smith (Kyla), Jaxson Golden, Logan Louis, Tori Davis, Lindsey Spatzeck-Olsen (Gabe), and Sunday Adkins; brother, Nick Walker (Karen); and sisters, Darlene Hord and Janice Russell (Tim).
A private celebration of life is planned for the future. Cremation Done Properly™ under the care of Dotson Funeral Home & Cremation, Wildwood (865-984-5959).
