James A. "Preacher" Payne

James A. "Preacher" Payne, age 75, of Wildwood, formerly of Walland, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at UT Medical Center. James loved talking and fellowshipping with people. He was very active in church work and never met a stranger. James also took great pride in his work as a master craftsman, building and working with wood. He was preceded in death by his father, Levi Payne; mother, Elsie Mae Payne; brothers, Clifford, Maynard "Chuck", and Danny Payne; sister, Joan Herron. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the Rev. Patsy Ann Garland Payne; son, James Michael (Stephanie) Payne of Mason, MI; daughter, Debbie Walker of Maryville; grandchildren, David, Timothy, and Joey Walker; Brandon Alley, Chrissy Hightower; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Steve (Sue) Payne of Texas; numerous friends and church friends. The family will have a memorial receiving of friends from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 in the Dotson Wildwood Chapel. Interment of cremated remains will be in Prospect Cemetery.
