James Edward Nichols Sr.

James E. Nichols, Sr., age 80, of Rockford, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at the family home. James loved to fish, hunt, and especially spending time with his family. He will be missed very much. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Nix Nichols; son, James E. Nichols, Jr.; daughter, Patsy Hill; grandchildren, Bethany Myers, Lee Simerly; parents, Elmer and Bessie Nichols. Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn (Steve) Jorgensen of Bradenton, FL; Tina Regina Banks of Maryville, Barbara (Scott Wyrick) Nichols of Rockford; sisters, Betty Mitchell of Knoxville, June Hall of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Jamie, Jenny, Britany; great grandchildren, Alexis, Alyssa, Molly, Brett, Henry, Connor, Andrew, Jayden, Garyt, Jensen Brentlee. The family will be having a Memorial Ceremony at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 557 Self Hollow Road, Rockford, with Preacher Dempsey Walker, officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be private. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 PM Thursday at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice.
