Herman Maples, age 99, of South Knoxville, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the family home. He was a US Army Veteran, serving honorably in World War II, and earning a Purple Heart. Herman enjoyed the outdoor life and loved to fish. He will be remembered as a wonderful father and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Maples; 9 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Barbara Maples of Heiskell; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Mike Hedden of Louisville, Martha and Robert Kasper of Seymour, Vanessa and Allen Finney, Trudy and Randy Jones, all of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. A special thanks to Devin Conard for his care. Funeral Service will be 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Dotson Wildwood Chapel with Mike & Karen Hedden, officiating. Interment will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Stock Creek Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Dotson Funeral Home.
