Guy Douglas Bayless

Age 74, of Seymour, died Friday, August 22, 2025, at the family home surrounded by loved ones.

Guy was an amazing husband who devoted his life to caring for his wife, always putting her first. A graduate of Porter High School, he went on to work as a steamfitter and plumber at the University of Tennessee, where he dedicated more than 30 years of hard work and service. Known for his willingness to help others, Guy’s steady hands and generous heart touched countless people throughout his life.

Family was at the center of everything for Guy. He especially adored his grandchildren, teaching them how to hunt, fish, and golf, passing along not only his skills but also his love of the outdoors and time spent together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Butch and Mabel Bayless; and his great-nephew, Dallas Bayless.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joyce Bayless; son, Bucky Bayless (Somer); brother, David Bayless (Carolyn); sister, Betsy Peery (Jeff); grandchildren, Chloe and Taylor Bayless; and nieces and nephews, Tracy Walker, Butch Bayless, and Adara Sellers.
