David Mayes Obituary

David Wayne Mayes, age 50, of Maryville, died Friday, December 5, 2025, at Prisma Blount Memorial Hospital.

David had a good heart and a great sense of humor. He was tough, thick-skinned, and always quick to help others. When he was young, he stepped up to be a father figure for his sisters, a responsibility he carried with strength and loyalty. He worked as a pool installer and took great pride in the quality of his work. David loved to fish and enjoyed being on the water, where he found peace and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Mayes, Jr.; mother, Linda Walker; son, Isaiah Mayes; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Wilma Wilburn.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Crystal Mayes; son, Austin Mayes; daughters, Emily, Katelyn, and Gracie Mayes; brother, Odie Mayes (Mary); sisters, Monika Jones and Natasha Jones (Travis); brothers-in-law, James and Amber Garland and John Wilburn (Courtney Molter); along with several nieces and nephews.
