Danny Wayne Loope, age 75, of Maryville, died Monday, May 12, 2025, at West Hills Health and Rehab in Knoxville.
Danny was retired from the City of Knoxville and took great pride in his work. Married for 11 years, he was known for his persistence through life’s struggles and his talent for tinkering and working on cars. Though he never had children of his own, he was lovingly known as "Papaw Dan" and absolutely adored his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Hoskins; father, Leon Loope; and siblings, Karen Palmer, David Loope, and Donne Loope.
Danny is survived by his wife, Geraldine Strickland Loope; siblings, Shirley Shady, Jane Belle, and Terry Hoskins; step-children, James “Jim” Strickland (Pam), Gene Strickland (Deanna), Sheila Majors (Jimmy), and Mike Strickland (Karen); step-grandchildren, Danny and Brandon Strickland, Chelsea Majors, Alex Miller, Robbie Glandon, and Kevin Glandon; and step great-grandchildren, Kenna Strickland, Nova, Imrie, Asia Scott, and Orion Strickland; as well as close and longtime friends Earl Maples and Katie Stevens.
The family is planning to hold a memorial ceremony at a later date. He will be interred at Hopewell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Madisonville, Tennessee.
