Clyde Ray Garner

Clyde Garner, age 81, was born July 31 1937 in the Old Chilhowee mountains of East Tennessee and died peacefully Friday, March 15, 2019. Clyde's parents were Elmer and Margaret Garner. His family moved to Chicago at an early age but Clyde always kept his love for Tennessee until he finally moved back in 1989. Clyde is survived by the love of his life, Lynn, after 52 wonderful years of marriage, and his boys Aaron and Jason Garner (Karen). Clyde loved time with his family and made many special memories with sister-in-law Bonnie Spurlock and her husband Jim as well as his brothers and sisters, Fred, John, Ralph, Ken, Irene, Nancy and Inez. Clyde has many nieces and nephews he loved. Clyde loved to be outdoors in the garden, in the field or even in the woods. Clyde adored his grandsons Tucker Ray and Tanner Thomas Garner and most recently met his third grandson Trey Jason. Even while sick these boys brought joy to his face! Clyde is now reunited with his lifelo ng friend Carl Loveday Sr. Clyde loved all things Tennessee Volunteers but most of all Tennessee football, Lady Vols Basketball and softball. For Many years he shared a passion for Reavis Rams football as he would attend every home and away game. Clyde was known for many years of coaching Little league baseball as he groomed and taught young players. Clyde will be buried at Old Chilhowee cemetery where he and his family used to put out a garden. The Garner family would like to thank the staff at NHC rehab in Knoxville for the many hours and memories they made with Clyde up until his final day. Special thank you to Mike Owen. Graveside Ceremonies will be 12:00 noon Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Old Chilhowee Cemetery, 1959 Old Chilhowee Road, Seymour.
