Charles F. Hord, age 91, of Palestine, TX, formerly of Alcoa, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret James Hord and his daughter, Twyla Ann. Charlie was born on October 14, 1925 in Alcoa, TN. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He served in the Navy during World War II. After many years working as a Construction Accounting Manager for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), he retired in Palestine, TX. There, he and Margaret built a beautiful horse farm where they raised and boarded horses. His love of nature kept him in the country side with his beloved dogs. He enjoyed sitting on his porch watching the birds and squirrels on his many bird feeders, listing to music and visiting with his friends. Charlie also enjoyed watching football, debating the latest political issues and keeping up with the news of the day. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Goulding (Charles) living in Pittsburgh, PA and Charlis Hord living in Maryville, TN; three grandchildren, Chuck Goulding (Debbi), Mike Goulding (Cyndil) and Dan Smith; and three Great Grandchildren, Twila, Chaz and Boone Goulding. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Nelle Campbell and brothers, Ray (Billie) and Tom (Shelby) Hord, all living in Tennessee. Graveside Ceremony will be 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 10, 2017 at at Grandview Cemetery 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike,Maryville.
