Barbara 'Bobbie' Scruggs Obituary

Barbara Ann (Ardry) Scruggs, lovingly known to everyone as “Bobbie” passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 20, 2026 at the age of 79 in
Maryville, Tennessee. A lifelong Tennessean, she was born on September 6, 1946 in Hickman
County, Tennessee to Robert Hardin Ardry and Dorothy Mai Trotter.

Bobbie was a graduate of Hickman County High School. On June 5, 1976 she married the
love of her life, Goldie Ray Scruggs. Together they built a life centered on family and love,
raising two children, Goldie Arlette (Scruggs) Willis and Ellis Ray Scruggs. She lived with
her family in Nolensville, Tennessee, and later retired to Jamestown, Tennessee. After the passing of her husband, she moved to Maryville, Tennessee to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
She held many titles in her life-daughter, aunt, sister, mom, wife, and her favorite title,
Grammy. There was nothing she loved more than her family and her happiest moments
were when she was surrounded by them.

Bobbie worked for over 25 years at Black & Decker, where she retired as a supervisor. She
had a strong work ethic and kind, steady leadership at her job. But her true gift was caring
for others.

She really loved simple things in life: a strong cup of coffee (with plenty of sugar), long
afternoons in her rocking chair, and playing cards with her family. She loved country
music-especially George Jones-and she often requested that her grandson Elijah would
play the guitar and sing old country hits. She had a soft spot for animals. She had two
beloved dogs, Lexi and Lulu, and she was always ready to help care for the animals her
children had.

Bobbie was a woman of deep faith, and she lived it daily through her kindness, generosity,
and love. She spent a lot of time reading her Bible and writing out her favorite verses. She
had a gentle, caring, quiet spirit that made everyone feel loved.

Her legacy is one of devotion, warmth, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed
and remembered forever by those who were blessed to know her.

Survivors include her daughter, Goldie Willis, son, Ellis (Amber) Scruggs: grandchildren,
Cassie Wills, Elijah Scruggs, Ashlee Willis, Tyler Scruggs, and honorary granddaughter
Alden Smith: siblings Bill (Marjorie) Ardry, June (Travis) Victory, Boyce (Carolyn) Ardry,
Steve (Rhena) Ardry, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Scruggs:
grandson, Jaden Scruggs: sisters, Cleo McCaleb, Clara Jo Ardry, Lois Bee (Daniel) Kapela.

Pallbearers will be Ellis Scruggs, Elijah Scruggs, Tyler Scruggs, Bill Ardry, Boyce Ardry,
