Kelvin Boyd Obituary

Kelvin Ray Boyd, also known as Ray Vandal, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023, in Knoxville, Tennessee at Tennova North. Born on January 7, 1974, in Maryville, Tennessee, Kelvin lived a vibrant and creative life, touching the hearts of many with his humor, kindness, and wit. He was a proud son of the late Kenneth Ray Boyd and Lois Irene Dial, and a loving brother to Kassie L. E. Boyd.

Kelvin's passion for language and storytelling led him to pursue an associate degree in English at Pellissippi State Community College and later, his bachelor’s at the University of Tennessee. His interest in the written word led to more than a 20-year career as a reporter for the Daily Times.

Outside of his professional life, Kelvin was involved in the local wrestling scene as a manager, best known for his persona "A Bear." His love for wrestling was only matched by his enthusiasm for horror movies and superhero comics, which he would often spend hours discussing with friends and family. In addition, he had a talent for reading tarot cards, offering guidance and insight to friends and strangers alike.

Kelvin was known for his funny and friendly nature. He had an incredible ability to make people laugh and his presence was a source of warmth and comfort to those around him.

As we remember Kelvin Ray Boyd, let us celebrate his life and the many ways he touched our hearts. His humor and warmth will continue to inspire us and serve as a reminder to keep working for your dreams. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the stories he shared and the laughter he brought to all who knew him. Kelvin will live on in the memories of the countless friends and colleagues who were fortunate to have known him. Kelvin's passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill, but the joy and kindness he brought to the world will never be forgotten.

A private interment was held at Mount Zion Cemetery in Vonore, TN.  Arrangements entrusted to Dotson Funeral Home, Wildwood.  (865-984-5959)  Online Book of Memories- www.dotsonfuneralhome.com
